With over a decade of experience, we have helped many NDIS providers and non-providers in Australia streamline their processes, promote NDIS services, increase customer loyalty, and maximise their online search presence among search engines.
If you’re a provider working with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) with an NDIS registration it’s important that you use the correct logo when promoting your services. If you are a un-registered NDIS provider it’s even more important to understand the limitations on logo usage.
This guide will be a great resource explaining the different guidelines for promoting NDIS as well as logo options available to providers (both registered and unregistered) and how to use them correctly to identify and acknowledge you work wiht NDIS participants on your website and marketing materials.
The NDIS logo is a symbol that represents the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Australia. It is characterised by a colour scheme that includes the white NDIS initials with a green dot on the letter i, surrounded by a purple background, forming a distinct visual identity.
The NDIS logo and acronym are both registered trademarks in the name of the NDIA. This means you can’t use them unless the NDIA gives you permission. The NDIA has established specific branding guidelines that outline who can use the NDIS logo and under what circumstances. The NDIS acronym cannot be used in a business or domain name as well.
The NDIA has established formal contractual agreements with Partners in the Community (PITC), which include local area coordinators and early childhood partners. These agreements encompass guidelines on co-branding, ensuring that all partners adhere to the NDIA’s standards. The PITC Communication Guidelines are available through partner relationship managers, providing detailed instructions on appropriate logo use and co-branding practices.
The Agency maintains official contracts with our Community Partners, which include local area coordinators and early childhood providers. These contracts outline co-branded guidelines and protocols. You can access the PITC Communication Guidelines through NDIA partner relationship managers.
Connectors have the privilege of including a modified version of the NDIS logo on appropriate resources, such as brochures, fact sheets, digital materials, and promotional items.
You are not allowed to use the NDIS logo without permission from the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), as unauthorised use is strictly prohibited. The NDIS logo and acronym are registered trademarks owned by the NDIA, and authorised providers who have obtained the necessary permissions are the only ones allowed to use it.
Non-Providers include:
Misuse of the NDIS logos can lead to serious consequences, including legal action and reputational damage.
When using NDIS logos, avoid the following:
The main NDIS logo is trademarked under the Commonwealth law, which means it is reserved exclusively for use by the NDIS and its partners. Previously, both registered providers and non-registered users could use the heart/support logos, but only registered providers were allowed to use the tagline. However, updates that took effect in September 2024 now require registered NDIS providers to use the NDIS heart/support provider logo along with its tagline.
Do not modify, distort, or change the colour, proportions, or design of the NDIS logo in any way to maintain its design integrity. Make sure the logo remains intact and consistent to maintain its integrity and comply with the NDIS guidelines.
Always make sure that you have authorisation to use the NDIS logo, as misuse can lead to legal issues under Commonwealth trademark laws. This may not only risk potential legal action but it can also result in reputational damage to your organisation.
Don’t use the NDIS logo in a way that falsely implies endorsement or affiliation with the NDIS if you're not a registered provider. Misrepresenting your relationship with the NDIS can lead to serious consequences, including legal action and damage to your organisation's credibility.
Avoid placing the NDIS logo too close to other logos or images, which could confuse users or misrepresent partnerships. Proper spacing is essential to maintain the logo’s integrity and to ensure visual clarity.
Providers are not permitted to use the NDIS logo or acronym in any publicity materials, including on vehicles, buildings, emails, stationery, business cards, and so on. This restriction is in place to protect the integrity of the NDIS branding and to prevent any potential misrepresentation of affiliation or endorsement.
The NDIS logos should always be displayed in publicity material in its entirety, with no alterations. This means that there should be no modifications to the logo’s colour, size or design, as any changes can misrepresent the brand and its intended message. Consistency in how the logo is presented is crucial for maintaining the integrity and recognition of the NDIS identity, ensuring brand consistency. Therefore, it is important to always use the official logo in its approved format.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is dedicated to safeguarding its intellectual property and copyright. The NDIA logo and acronym are registered trademarks, and their use requires explicit permission from the NDIA. To raise community awareness about the NDIS, the NDIA encourages the use of the ‘I/we heart NDIS’ and ‘I/we support NDIS’ logos.
Registered NDIS providers are permitted to use the ‘I/we heart NDIS’ and ‘I/we support NDIS’ logos, along with the tagline ‘Registered NDIS provider’.
The below logos can be used by registered and unregistered NDIS providers to raise community awareness and promote their services to the community and people with disability, their families and carers.
UPDATE! Registered providers must use the NDIS heart/support provider logo + tagline; this has been updated since September 2024 and was only brought to our attention by recent feedback directly from the NDIS marketing team. In the past, anyone could use the heart/support logos and only registered providers could use the tagline. The NDIS website has also been updated to reflect these changes.
Whether you are a provider or a non-provider, it’s important to know and use the correct NDIS Branding when promoting your services to ensure compliance with NDIA guidelines. The NDIA has strict guidelines for logo use, so make sure you follow them closely.
